High-performance vegetable and mineral double-tanned leather, pre-stretched for exceptional resistance to elongation.
This Chocolate Boyoma leather is made from carefully selected butt sections and pre-stretched at the Radermecker Tannery in Belgium. Developed specifically for demanding equestrian applications, it combines exceptional strength with very low elongation, making it particularly suitable for stirrup leathers and saddle girth straps.
Boyoma is a robust full-grain leather with a smooth, uncorrected grain. It is double-tanned, combining vegetable tanning with a mineral retannage, and is deeply nourished in a traditional tallow bath for enhanced durability and resistance to moisture, sweat and outdoor conditions.

Boyoma is mechanically pre-stretched to significantly reduce its natural elasticity and elongation.
During production, the leather is processed under tension, helping it absorb direct forces while maintaining its tensile strength. This makes it particularly valuable for applications where consistent length and minimal stretching are essential, such as stirrup leathers and saddle girth straps.
The stretching process may leave visible marks towards the ends of the leather. These are a natural result of the production process and should be taken into consideration when cutting patterns.
Boyoma is supplied as tannery-choice leather, meaning the hides have been carefully selected for their overall quality and have very few visible defects.
Natural leather will always contain some variation. Minor marks and traces of the animal's life are part of the character of genuine full-grain vegetable-tanned leather and should not be considered defects.
The leather will also develop a distinctive natural patina with age and use. As with any natural hide, thoughtful pattern placement is recommended to make the best use of the available surface.
Boyoma has an aniline finish, using a thin, transparent coating that protects the leather while preserving its natural grain, texture and appearance.
The leather is also deeply nourished in a traditional tallow bath, using a mixture of paraffin and beef fat. This traditional greasing process penetrates through the leather, making it easier to cut and work while improving resistance to moisture and demanding outdoor conditions.
The natural fats also help the leather develop a rich patina over time.
Boyoma is particularly suited to applications where leather is exposed to constant tension, movement, moisture and animal sweat.
Recommended applications include:
Stirrup leathers
Saddle girth straps
Equestrian straps
Heavy-duty saddlery
Other applications requiring minimal elongation and high tensile strength
Its combination of pre-stretching, high breaking strength and deep greasing makes Boyoma a reliable choice for demanding leatherwork where stability and durability are critical.

One of the advantages of Boyoma is that its deep tallow nourishment means it requires very little ongoing maintenance.
The leather can be used without regular feeding. If desired, a suitable leather conditioner can be applied to the grain side to maintain its slightly oily appearance or encourage the development of its patina.
If the leather becomes wet, allow it to dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources such as radiators or hairdryers.
Because the leather contains natural fats and paraffin, sudden temperature changes can occasionally produce a temporary whitish film on the surface. This is normal and can easily be removed by gently rubbing the leather with a clean cloth.
